12/16/10 v Carolina Hurricanes ~ Final Score: 3-2 in Shootout

Goalie Matchup:    Chris Mason v Cam Ward

Thrashers just came off another three game road trip to earning 5 out of 6 possible poins, including the “Nassau (Islanders) Mosoleum” for a 5-4 Thrashers win, then on to Ottowa to face the Sens for a 4-3 win, and and last night to Tampa Bay Lightening for a 2-1 TBL win in a shootout.   So00, tonite, we were on a back to back game, but so was Carolina.  In Canes Wednesday nite game, they were down by 3 due to Cam letting in three quick ones and being pulled, so he was out to make up for it tonight in Atlanta.

We ended first period with no score.    Period two, we scored but it was taken away by a ‘thrasher in the Cam Ward Kitchen” call!   Within seconds, Kane slams one in and Stewart followed shortly after.    Not sure what’s going on with Zach, but he just seems lethargic with our new team.  I hope he and Coach figure it out.

The rest was just a total battle, lots of hits, way too many unsuccessful SOGs, blown major power play opportunities, penalties (Eager in the 2nd with 5 minutes for fighting and 10 minute misconduct, what’s up with that, Eager?) , a tie, some OT free hockey, and then Nik scores in the shootout, but Canes pull it out in the end with a 3-2 shootout win.

Atlanta’s record now stands at 17-11-5 (39 points)

Highlights and a few pictures below.

And, Kane takes it home!  After we’d just been denied a goal by a “blue in the crease” bogus call

Hang on there Cam

Even Freddy the Falcon was disturbed

And again, our favorite Kiss Cam couple, they’ve been season ticket holders since the very beginning

And Nik’s Shootout Goal

Nik gets it done for the win.

We were joined by Braves Brian McCann, Falcons Roddy White and Tennis Star Robby Ginepri.  Mr. Kincade talked with them briefly.   What amazed me was that they were right directly below us and I never saw them!
