2/25/12 Preds vs SJ Sharks 6-2 PREDS

This road trip was a lot of fun.    We went over to Opry Mills to see Denzel Washington’s new movie “Safe House” which was really good, then our traditional pre-game Bar-B-Cutie dinner, then to the arena where tonite, my friend Nancy and her daughter Ashley and friend Chikoka came up.   Ashley and Chikoka come up to a lot of games, but this was the first time we all knew where each other was and that I got to actually meet Nancy face to face.  Such a wonderful, sweet lady!    The drive home on Sunday was fun too, we eventually ran up on each other on the interstate and had fun driving on home waving to each other.

So, What is my Favorite Sound in Nashville?   The PREDS Goal Horn and we got to hear it 6 times tonite:

A few warm up shots:

The girls, watching the guys  🙂

Niemi wants to play

Niemi getting limber

Greiss warming up, or looking at gum on his skate.   He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s going to be needed tonite!

I like this because “Paul” the announcer is sitting there at his station.   When he makes announcements, the crowd goes “Thanks Paul”

Niemi sees something, or, he wants to just go back down the tunnel

The San Jose Sharks’ long and disappointing road trip got worse, thanks in large part to the work of Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber.  Shea Weber scored two goals, and the Predators routed the Sharks 6-2 on Saturday night.

With the Predators on a power play, Weber scored his second of the game with 7:56 to go in the second on a one-timer from just inside the blue line.   It was Weber’s second two-goal game this season and eighth of his career.

Sergei Kostitsyn led the Predators into the San Jose zone on a 3-on-2 rush. From the left boards, Kostitsyn passed the puck to Erat in the left circle. Erat found Weber on the right side, and Weber snapped a wrist shot just under the crossbar.

Colin Wilson, Kevin Klein, Martin Erat and Nick Spaling also scored for Nashville, which has won three of four.

The Predators have 16 wins in their last 20 home games.

Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski scored for San Jose, 2-5-1 on its season-high, nine-game road trip that ends at Minnesota on Sunday.

Jordin Tootoo forced a turnover by defenseman Colin White at the blue line and carried the puck down the ice on the right side. Tootoo sent a pass into the slot to Wilson, who beat Niemi low to the stick side.

Sergei Kostitsyn led the Predators into the San Jose zone on a 3-on-2 rush. From the left boards, Kostitsyn passed the puck to Erat in the left circle. Erat found Weber on the right side, and Weber snapped a wrist shot just under the crossbar.

Pavelski scored 23 seconds into the second period to again bring the Sharks within a goal.

Joe Thornton had two assists for San Jose, and Marleau and Pavelski both had an assist in addition to their goals. As the Pacific Division leaders, the Sharks entered Saturday in the third spot in the Western Conference, but their loss combined with a win by the Phoenix Coyotes put the Sharks back into seventh place.

Yep, that’s what they say!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a flying puck?

Niemi won’t be in much longer

Marleau brought the Sharks within 2-1 with 9:02 to go in the first, but Klein restored the Predators; two-goal edge five minutes later. Niemi was then replaced by Greiss.

Thomas Greiss made 11 saves for the Sharks after replacing Antti Niemi, who stopped four of the seven shots he faced.

Niemi is out, Greiss is in, and another really close call

Around the back side of the net, and, scores!

Then Yip and his new friend wanted to talk about it a bit

Trying to clog up Pekka’s view

Hey Nancy and Chikoka!

Here comes Mike Fisher!

This almost reminds me of a Chris Thorburn game where he lost his helmet and his stick and became a total body warrior!

I love the look on the shark’s faces!

Lots of snow!  I LOVE snow!

Preds had Niemi and then Greiss flipping like a shark outta water all night

The section we sat in tonight was where the wives/girlfriends and their kids sit and we had a very informative neighbor.   She told us who the kids were.   These two are reportedly “Bouillon’s” twins

This, I believe, was Legwand’s little guy

And, I can’t remember who this precious little thing’s daddy was!

We kept seeing this jersey.   Later, we would learn that it was none other than “Alex Radulov”, who had not returned to the NHL at this point.  This guy must have been thrilled later on when Rads came back.

Pekka Rinne made 32 saves for Nashville and earned his career-high 34th win.

Screech and snow in front of Pekka

Peks doesn’t even look tired tonight

More attempts to clog things up in front of Peks

Gnash getting the crowd going

Get ready because I feel a blister coming

Another one, Greiss wants it out of his crease, now

Get a drink, quick, because it’s about to happen again

Erat’s empty-net goal with 2 minutes remaining, and Spaling’s goal in the final seconds of the third concluded the scoring for Nashville.

And, we like it, we love it, we want some more of it

Says it all

I love the salute!

Goalie love and TooToo is almost always the last one off the ice, with his stick raised!

Gnash rides in and shows his hockey love
