3/10/12 Preds vs Red Wings, 3-2 Preds

This weekend was fun.  Weather was great up there, but chilly, so Saturday morning we went over to Opry Mills to see the new movie “John Carter”, which was awesome.  Came out and it was like pouring rain, but we didn’t melt and made our way on over to Bar-B-Cutie for lunch, then headed over to the arena.

It was a great time outside on the plaza.  they had a car painted in Detroit colors again and people were taking turns pounding it with a sledgehammer to destroy it.

We went on inside and got ready for warmups.

Joey MacDonald warming up.   I loved that the Preds puck rolled thru just as I was taking the picture.

Andrei Kostitsyn was assisted by his brother, Sergei, on a pair of power-play goals to lead the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Patric Hornqvist also scored for Nashville. Drew Miller and Justin Abdelkader had goals for Detroit. Both teams scored within a 13-second span of the first period.

Miller answered at 7:43 when he won a battle behind the net for the puck and then bounced a shot from the right side in off of Rinne.

The guys in gold are in tune.   Look all up in Pekka’s net!

David Legwand skated on the left side, and Hornqvist on the right on a 2-on-1 break. Legwand passed to Hornqvist, who scored on a wrist shot on a backdoor play that caught MacDonald too far out of the net at 7:30. Hornqvist leads the Predators with 21 goals.

And, on it’s way back out  🙂

Celebrating another one

Not happy!

Andrei Kostitsyn scored on the power play at the 11:59 of the first to put the Predators back in front 2-1. Sergei Kostitsyn made a short pass to his brother who did a spin-around move to beat MacDonald on the left side. It was the first time the brothers had teamed up for a goal for Nashville.

Oh Yeah!

The boys in gold are smoking!

Pekka got his new lid tonight and wore it for the first time.   This is the girl who designed it and won the contest

This band was so much fun.  They were a bunch of doctors from Vandy and their band name was something related to that, can’t remember now what they called themselves, but they did oldies and were having a great time.

A good view of Pekka’s new lid

Hey, who is that riding the zamboni

Cool sign.  Turns out this is the man who had come around and shared hockey photography love with me a couple of games back.  Really nice guy, and great job on the sign.

Awwww, it’s Carrie Underwood Fisher’s birthday

At 4:34 of the third period the Kostitsyn brothers connected again on the power play. Andrei scored from low on the left side off a pass from Sergei. It was Andrei’s first multiple-goal game of the season.

Get ready MacDonald

Can’t stop them on your hiney Mac

I LOVE this guy!    Check out his enthusiasm.   Then, to the right, check out the girl in the Red Wings jersey!

And, we have a catfish on the ice

Joey MacDonald stopped 17 shots for Detroit.

Tracking behind his net

With 5:25 remaining, Red Wings fired a shot and then put the rebound over Rinne’s shoulder from low in the slot

Geez, these things!

Nasty and stinky

Are Spaling and McDonald having words?

And, we get another one, within about 5 minutes of the first one

Yuk.   Gotta love Detroit!
